Literally 500 metres from my home. Yesterday morning, under heavy rain conditions, the driver of this Toyota Mark II spun and fell off a mountainside. Luckily for him, he only fell 20 metres and was caught by the trees. He survived, albeit with some nasty injuries.

Pity about the car too - RWD, manual Toyota. The Mark II is already a rare car in HK, to have it in a manual transmission is even rarer.

Here you can see how it happened. As the driver descended the flyover, gathering speed, he’s suddenly confronted with a very sharp chicane. I suspect the rain was very heavy indeed, because he managed to spin off even with traction control and ABS to help him.

Unless he was doing some really crazy speed, that barrier really failed him. I can’t believe the whole thing sheared off like that. Also: Nice neighborhood!

He didn’t hit the Armco barrier in the Google Maps pic, he hit a normal fence like the one pictured below, that’s why it gave way so easily. Also, there were no skid marks, apart from when he hit the curb.

And yes, my neighbourhood used to be relatively cheap. Now it’s ridiculously expensive. I actually have a local celebrity living near me, although his car collection must be elsewhere...

Come during the winter, the weather is MUCH better during those months. I’ll even take you around (if I’m still here that is).

It’s a tropical country, so temperatures are always warm. By December, on average, it dips just below 65ºF and stays around that temperature until about March when the humidity starts rolling in again and spring showers begin. I mean, right now at night, it’s 82ºF and 84% humidity. In the day, we’ve hit 97ºF.
